Connah's Quay Nomads are delighted to confirm the return of 27-year-old midfielder, Declan Poole.

It was announced that Declan would leave The Nomads in June 2022, and would join Buxton who had just been promoted in to the Vanarama National League North where he would go on to make 30 league appearances for The Bucks as they finished 11th in the league last season. Poole orginally signed for The Nomads in November 2016 having spent time at Everton U18s, Wigan Athletic and Nantwich Town.

Poole made his competitive debut for The Nomads in the side's Nathaniel MG Cup Semi Final defeat to TNS, however Poole was to have more luck against TNS later in the same season, as he struck a match winning volley, which also earned him the Welsh Premier League Goal of the Month award for March.

During his first spell at The Nomads, Poole would go on to make 135 competitive starts, with exactly 100 coming the JD Cymru Premier, scoring 16 goals and providing even more assists during his time at the club.

His time at the club would be a decorated one, picking up two JD Cymru Premier titles, two Nathaniel MG Cups, a JD Welsh Cup winners medal along with runner's up medals in both the JD Welsh Cup and Scottish Challenge Cup.

Neil Gibson commented on Declan's return saying; "It's fantastic to have Declan back at the club - he was a player that I really enjoyed working with in my earlier spell at the club. He's gone from strength to strength in the last 3-4 seasons, was part of the title winning team two years on the run and did really well when I watched him a couple of times last season at Buxton including in the FA Cup tie against Ipswich Town."

He's athletic, technically very good, a great character and very well suited for how we want to evolve to squad and I'm really excited to work with him again."

Welcome back to the club Declan!
