Wednesday night saw the draw for the JD Welsh Cup Quarter Finals take place with The Nomads being drawn against Buckley Town.

The draw took place on the FAW's streaming platform RedWall+ and gave The Nomads another Flintshire derby as part of our current cup run, having overcome Flint Town United in the Round of 16 last weekend.

The last time that the two sides met was also in the Welsh Cup, back in February 2016 as The Nomads ran out 4-1 winners at a wet Deeside Stadium to secure a place in the Quarter Finals. On that day, goals from Robbie Parry and Jay Crowther along with a brace from Callum Morris was enough to see The Nomads overcome The Bucks.

After recent troubles with their pitch at The Globe, Buckley have chosen to play their games at our former home at Deeside Stadium, however it was not a happy start for them as they lost out 3-2 to Bangor 1876 having led 2-0 after just 24 minutes on December 2nd.

The Bucks secured their place in the Quarter Finals with a 3-2 victory over Porthmadog last weekend thanks to goals from Callum Humphries and Liam Driscoll and there will likely be a few ex Nomads Academy faces featuring with Max Moore, Josh Allen, Charlie Urquhart and Cameron Meredith all part of last weekend's squad.

The draw in it's entirity saw only one all top-flight clash as Cardiff Met will host either Colwyn Bay or Barry Town United with the remaining fixtures all seeing lower league opposition facing off against Cymru Premier sides.
