McCarthy to lead U21s

Connah's Quay Nomads are pleased to announce that Jon McCarthy will be the new head coach of our U21 team.

McCarthy has been at the club since he joined the First Team Coaching Staff in October 2021, initially working under Craig Harrison and more recently under Neil Gibson.

McCarthy's playing career started out at Hartlepool United before enjoying spells at teams including York City, Port Vale, Birmingham City, Sheffield Wednesday and Doncaster Rovers in a career which saw him amass over 580 appearances.

McCarthy also achieved 18 caps for the Northern Ireland International team, was a runner up in the League Cup with Birmingham City in 2001 and won the Conference North with Northwich Victoria in 2006.

Our U21s now play their fixtures in the FAW Reserve League North and have so far beaten Buckley Town Reserves and Holywell Town's U21s in their two league fixtures thus far.
