Wednesday night will see Connah's Quay Nomads return to JD Welsh Premier League action with a trip to Newtown.

The Nomads' last game in the domestic league was over 10 days ago with a top of the table clash with Barry Town United at Deeside Stadium in a game that ended 2-2. Since then, Andy Morrison's men have gone to Hampden Park and recorded a famous 2-1 victory to progress to the Semi Finals of the Irn Bru Cup, but will turn their focus back to the JD Welsh Premier League this Wednesday as they travel to Latham Park to face sixth placed Newtown.

The Nomads last trip to Latham Park was in much different circumstances as we faced Aberystwyth Town in the JD Welsh Cup Final, a game which brought the Welsh Cup back to Deeside for the first time in the club's history. Wednesday night will see attentions turn to the fight at the top of the league as The Nomads look to regain first place as either a draw or victory will see them regain top spot in the table.

Newtown currently sit fifth following a fine run of form, just five points behind second-placed Nomads and will no doubt be looking to avenge the 3-1 defeat at Deeside Stadium earlier this season in a game which saw Jay Owen hit an opening strike within the first 50 seconds to get The Nomads off to a perfect start.

Ahead of the game, Andy Morrison said "We head to an in-form Newtown this Wednesday on the back of a great Irn Bru Cup win at Hampden Park last Friday night.

After our 3-1 victory earlier in the season, a few people raised an eyebrow when we spoke about how good of a result it was and how good of a squad Chris Hughes had put together. Since that game, Newtown have shown with their performances and wins that they are serious top three contenders.

With injuries and suspensions along with another semi final on Saturday, there will be significant changes in the starting eleven as we use our squad to its fullest."

The game kicks off at Latham Park at 7:45pm and will be covered live on our Twitter account.
