MATCH PREVIEW: BOXING DAY CLASH AT MAES TEGID

Boxing Day will see table-topping Connah's Quay Nomas travel to Maes Tegid to face Bala Town in the JD Welsh Premier League.

The Nomads go into the festive double-header with the Lakesiders in fine form, currently sitting atop the JD Welsh Premier League, a point above Barry Town United following our spectacular 6-1 victory over in-form Cardiff Met last Saturday.

The game saw an impressive performance from The Nomads including a hat-trick from Michael Wilde, technically formidable strikes from Andy Owens and Ryan Wignall, while Michael Bakare opened the scoring in under 60 seconds before providing three assists.

Not to be outdone, Bala thumped Llanelli 7-1 at Stebonheath Park, the same ground where The Nomads won 7-0 on the opening day of the season.

The Nomads come into the game in fine form having won the last four games in all competitions, netting on 15 ocassions and conceding just four while Bala have drawn two out of their last three games, with their victory at Stebonheath being their first since early November's 4-2 victory over Llandudno.

Ahead of the double header, Andy Morrison spoke to Will Catterall.

"... I just know that our games against Bala have always been close encounters and it's tiny little details, it's usually been one goal that's been the difference and we've always had great games against them - it's two very disciplined, organised teams that have a structure to what they do and to points we've nullified each other many times and we have come out on top - I think it's about 10 or 11 games now since Bala beat us so we have got that on our side but they've won again comfy [against Llanelli] and they've got lads are scoring goals and Colin's teams are always top teams and again this year they've shown again that they'll be in that top two or three teams come the end of the season..."

The match kicks off at 2:30pm at Maes Tegid and will be covered live on our Twitter feed.
