Saturday afternoon will see Connah's Quay Nomads face Abertillery Bluebirds in the JD Welsh Cup fifth round.

The game marks The Nomads' first entry into this season's competition having last played in the Cup competition back in May when we lost the final 3-0 to TNS at Cefn Druids' The Rock. That match marked our second successive final in the Cup having not played in the showcase match since 1998, and The Nomads will be looking to get back to the final to again try and claim back the cup, but not without overlooking Abertillery.

The Bluebirds may well be the lowest ranked team left in the competition, but they have overcome Llanidloes Town, Penparcau, Lucas Cwmbran and Dinas Powys so far to reach the fifth round with their 4-3 victory over Llanidloes Town somewhat of a surprise with Llanidloes playing in the Mid-Wales First Division, while Abertillery currently play in the Second Division of the Welsh Football League.

In the league, The Bluebirds currently sit sixth having won five of their opening nine games of the season, drawing two and losing two.

The game marks the first time that the two sides have ever met and Sgorio have indicated that they will be at the Abertillery Sports Centre to cover the fixture.

Ahead of the game, Andy Morrison said "Having reached the final and won the Welsh Cup in the last two years, this is a competition we have great memories of. Our journey this season starts away at Abertillery Bluebirds and we have prepared in the right way as we always do. We know their strengths and where we feel we can affect the game, but having already knocked teams out from the league above we know the challenge ahead."
