Saturday afternoon's JD Welsh Cup fixture sees Afan Lido make their first trip to Deeside Stadium since March 2014.

Back then, it was a 3-0 victory to a Connah's Quay Nomads side managed by Mark McGregor thanks to goals from Craig Jones, Luke Holden and Gary O'Toole, with our last encounter against the side from Port Talbot coming in south Wales at the end of the same season.

It was a fixture that saw The Nomads need a victory to secure safety in the Welsh top flight, and it was The Nomads who came out on top thanks to a thumping 8-1 victory, a result which not only secured our safety but also saw Afan Lido play their final game in the then Welsh Premier League.

The Nomads come into the fourth round tie after a 3-0 victory away at Abertillery Bluebirds in the previous round, while Lido have defeated Llandudno, Aberbargoed Buds and Monmouth Town to reach this stage.

Ahead of the game, Andy Morrison said "We've had a great run in the Welsh Cup in the last two seasons, winning in 2018 and getting to the final last year.

In getting to this stage, clubs from the leagues below have been on a great run - we have watched Afan Lido on a few occasions - they're a squad full of Cymru Premier quality and had a convincing win in the last round against Llandudno so we are well aware of the challenge ahead.

In the cup, all we can hope for is a home game where our record is fantastic - we've shown this season that it will take a very good team to beat us."
