The Nomads ran out winners at Conyar Bridge Meadow on Saturday afternoon by two goals to nil.  Both of The Nomads' goals were scored by skipper George Horan in the second and 78th minutes.

This was a vital game for The Nomads, who knew that with a victory they could reach the top six for the first time this season.  Haverfordwest sought a win to reverse their poor fortunes of late, losing their past three league games.

Furthermore, Welsh Premier attention was on newly appointed Director of Football Andy Morrison and First Team Manager Jay Catton, after their league debut saw an emphatic 4-0 against Carmarthen Town.

Conditions for the game were some of the toughest The Nomads had seen this season, by no fault of the home side, but the adverse weather sweeping across Wales during the game.

The game began and spectators had only three minutes to wait before the opening goal.  The Nomads were awarded a free kick just outside the Haverfordwest penalty area, which Wes Baynes took.  His shot went straight towards Keeper Scott James but he could not keep hold of the ball, allowing George Horan to slot in the rebounding ball at close range.

With an early advantage, The Nomads looked to increase their lead, but Sean Miller could only send his effort wide of the goal.

With a view to cancelling out The Nomads' lead, Sam Rodon sent an excellent header towards John Danby, who kept it out with an instinctive save.

As the first half went on, Haverfordwest grew into the game and could have scored when Luke Borelli sent a shot wide of Danby’s left post in the 25th minute.

Perhaps one of the most dramatic moments of the game for the home side was when Declan Caroll’s attempt on goal bounced off The Nomads' left goalpost.

Despite The Bluebirds' attempts to go in level at half time, The Nomads, through a good display and some good luck, had the lead during the interval.

During the break, the consensus of both sets of spectators was one of an even game, which could go either way during the second half.

The re-start saw a substitution for The Nomads with Sean Miller coming off for Kevin McIntyre, who played in a defensive-midfield role.

Les Davies looked to launch an attack on the Haverfordwest goal and did so, getting just yards from goal only to have his left footed effort saved by James.

Ashley Ruane then sent a cross into the Haverfordwest area in the 53rd minute, where Horan could not put the shot away but the captain’s search a brace would continue.

The best chance for the home side during the second half was a break towards goal where Paul Linwood found himself alone against two oncoming Bluebird attackers.  In a great display of defensive desire, Wes Baynes tracked back from the opponents half to tackle and clear the ball.

After this chance, The Nomads had no real major incidents in front of their own goal. At the other end, Rushton sent a low cross to Ruane in the Haverfordwest area but Scott James swept the ball from his feet.  Minutes later, The Nomads did however find the second goal they needed to secure the game.

From a knock on inside the box from Les Davies, Horan dived low and sent the ball into the home net in a scrappy goal, but nevertheless a confirmation of his brace and a Nomads win.

During the final ten minutes of the match, The Nomads held the game well with the majority of possession, with Chris Rimmer replacing Callum Morris at the end of the game to ensure a clean sheet.

This was a great win for The Nomads which following results elsewhere over the weekend saw them enter the top six of the Dafabet Welsh Premier league.

They now move onto a big week of football facing Denbigh Town in theWord cup semi finals on Wednesday night, and Bala Town at Deeside in a live S4C Sgorio fixture next Saturday evening.
