Connah's Quay Nomads' Ladies Team wrote themselves into the club's history books on Sunday, reaching the semi-finals of the FAW Women's Cup with a 2-1 win over Port Talbot Ladies FC.

Goals from Candice Nellist and Rebecca Bannister saw the third-tier Ladies side come back from 0-1 down to knock top flight Port Talbot out of the prestigious cup competition.

Played throughout the strong winds of Storm Dennis at The Quay 3G, Sara Hilton's side started well but found themselves trailing via a penalty from Lauren Amor.

But before the break, Nellist found a way through the Port Talbot defence to coolly slot past the keeper to score her 14th goal of the season so far.

Shortly after the restart, Nomads went ahead thanks to a quick-fire strike from Rebecca Bannister who controlled the ball from an attempted Talbot clearance after a corner.

An impressive performance followed as Nomads held off the visitors from equalising, with stand-in keeper Rhonwen Wilde pulling off cup heroics with a number of fingertip saves to keep them out.

Full time sealed the cup upset, with Sara Hilton's Nomads booking themselves in the semi-final with only their 11th competitive game ever.

Following the win, manager Sara Hilton spoke to the club's official Twitter profile.

The draw for the semi finals took place on Monday afternoon and saw Sara's team pulled out to face current Welsh Premier Women's League leaders, Swansea City with the game taking place on Sunday 15th March at The Quay 3G.
