Connah's Quay Nomads are pleased to announce the appointment of Neil Gibson as the Club's new First Team Coach.

Gibson joins The Nomads following more than a decade at Prestatyn Town since taking over as Player/Manager in the 2006/07 season, having joined as a player in the 2005/06 season. Since then, Gibson has seen the highs and lows of Welsh football with The Seasiders, having successfully guided them Welsh Cup success and on to Europe in the 2013-14 season, defeating Latvian side Liepajas Metalurgs before being knocked out by Rijeka of Croatia.

Since then, Gibson has been at the helm as Prestatyn were relegated, ultimately at the hands of a 3-1 defeat at Deeside Stadium in April 2015. He then managed the side to a return to the Welsh Premier League at the beginning of the 2017/18 season following a difficult time for The Seasiders off the pitch.

As a player, Gibson is a former Wales U21 international who made one Football League appearance for Tranmere Rovers alongside spells at Sheffield Wednesday, Southport, Halesowen and Rhyl before heading to Bastion Gardens in the 2005/06 campaign.

Gibson is currently on the UEFA Pro License course alongside First Team Manager, Andy Morrison and joins Morrison's First Team Coaching Staff of Assistant Manager and Director of Football, Jay Catton as well as Goalkeeping Coach, Neil Ebbrell.

On Gibson's appointment, Morrison said "I am delighted to welcome Neil to the Club. He has an in-depth knowledge of Welsh football and has done an incredible job at Prestatyn Town, bringing through and nurturing young talent. With our Club's transition to a full-time status the profile of the players we will be working with will change.

I have no doubt that alongside myself and Jay [Catton], that Neil will play a major part in developing the talented young full-time squad we are assembling and aim to have that in place for the start of the 2018-19 season."
