Nomads to face Met in Semi Finals

Date Published: Monday, 4th March, 2019 - 8:50pm by Nik Mesney

Connah's Quay Nomads have been drawn against Cardiff Metropilitan University in the 2019 JD Welsh Cup Semi Finals.

The two sides have met previously this season in the Nathaniel MG Cup Semi Final which saw Met pick up a 1-0 victory at Deeside before going on to lift the trophy with a 2-0 victory over Cambrian & Clydach in the final at Jenner Park.

The Nomads have faced Met in the Welsh Cup in recent years, picking up a 2-0 victory at Cyncoed Campus in 2016, while also picking up a 4-0 victory in 2011, both at the quarter final stage.

Our last encounter with the students came in late December with a 6-1 victory at Deeside thanks to goals from Michael Bakare, Andy Owens, Ryan Wignall and a Michael Wilde hat-trick.

The other semi final will see The New Saints face Barry Town United.

The games are to be played on the weekend of March 30th at yet to be announced neutral venues.

We will of course keep you up to date as soon as we know further information on the exact dates, times and locations.
