Connah's Quay Nomads are delighted to confirm the signing of 23-year-old striker, Lifumpa Mwandwe.
Mwandwe joins The Nomads following a return to the JD Cymru Premier at Newtown having previously joined Canadian side HFX Wanderers in 2022 following a successful spell at Newtown between 2019 and 2022.
Mwandwe is originally from London, but joined Shrewsbury Town's Academy in 2013 and scored 20 goals in the 2017/18 season for the U18s. Fumpa would make his debut for the Shrewsbury first team in the EFL Trophy before making a loan move to Newtown in August 2019.
Mwandwe was nominated for the JD Cymru Premier Young Player of the Season award in 2022 and provided a fairytale end to his orginal stint at Latham Park as he would score the winning penalty in the UEFA Conference League First Round fixture against Faroese side Havnar Bolteflag before departing to Canadian Premier League club, HFX Wanderers.
During his time in Canada, Mwandwe made 19 appearances for the Wanderers before returning to Newtown on loan for the tail end of the 2023/24 season.
On joining The Nomads, Fumpa commented "I am very excited the join The Nomads - it will be good to work with such a talented group of lads and such good staff.
I really think we will be pushing at the top end of the table and I can help the team push on, so let's see how far we can go."
Following his recent spell at Newtown, Fumpa is not subject to International Clearance and is available immediately for selection ahead of Saturday's Nathaniel MG Cup fixture at Buckley.
Welcome to The Nomads Fumpa!
