Nash and Marriott commit for new campaign

Connah’s Quay Nomads are delighted to confirm that the pair of Ben Nash and Chris Marriott have both signed new contracts ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Nash came through The Nomads Academy over ten years ago as part of our first ever Scholarship team to win the National Colleges Final in May 2015.

Nash would then go on to join a few other sides in north Wales including Buckley Town, Denbigh Town and Flint Town United before returning to The Nomads in June 2022 and was a crucial part of the team which won the JD Welsh Cup in 2024 and has made over 110 starts for the club in total.

Marriott, one of the most decorated players in JD Cymru Premier history joined The Nomads in June 2024 having made over 500 appearances for The New Saints, winning 26 pieces of silverware in his time at Park Hall. Marriott made 31 starts for The Nomads last season in his first season at the club.

On securing the new contracts with the two defenders, Manager John Disney commented; "Having the opportunity to retain two senior players of the quality that Chris and Ben possess was a massive part of my thinking this summer, both again showed levels of loyalty to remain with the club although having what may seem on the outset better offers elsewhere.

They have both voiced accountability of last season and have the hunger and desire to stay with ourselves and look to put that right with the way we will want to do things this year.

Chris has always been someone I have admired with his successful playing career and having a leader like him in the dressing room has been a privilege and one I am sure all our players especially the younger ones can look up too with his standards and professionalism. Ben is also someone who since returning to the club after going and gaining experience within the league has been a mainstay of our defence an area we have bolstered this year and Ben now committing concludes our options there."
