Connah's Quay Nomads are delighted to confirm the arrival of 24-year-old midfielder Abdi Sharif at the club.
Somalian-born Sharif started his career at the Liverpool Academy, spending 2 years with he current English Premier League Champions and winning the FA Youth Cup during his spell on Merseyside before moving to Wigan Athletic in 2022. Abdi made his senior debut against Rotherham United in a 0-0 draw which saw him become the first Somalian-born player to ever play in the EFL Championship.
Sharif will be known to Welsh football fans for his 10 game spell at Aberystwyth Town in the second phase of last season's campaign which saw him make 10 appearances for the side from Park Avenue.
First Team Manager John Disney commented; "Abdi is a player with fantastic attributes that will join the already established squad and bring energy and great technical ability to the side. Abdi has had a brilliant footballing upbringing being at Liverpool from an early age up until 20 before moving to Wigan.
After speaking to Abdi it is clear that he wants to play senior games regularly and really start to enjoy his football again - being able to offer him a hybrid opportunity will only benefit him with extra sessions and individual training and analysis to be the best he possibly can be. I am extremely looking forward to working with Abdi for the coming season."
On signing for the club, Abdi said; "I'm very happy and excited to be on board at Connah's Quay - I'm also excited to be part of the hybrid and full time setup - can't wait to achieve good things together!"
