Connah’s Quay Nomads are pleased to announce the signing of 23-year-old Egyptian striker, Hussein Mehasseb.
Cairo-born Mehasseb is best known in the JD Cymru Premier for his time at Bala Town which saw him score 9 goals and 2 assists in 28 games last season including three goals in two games against The Nomads last season.
The 6’6” striker has represented Egypt at U20 level, making his debut at just 16 years of age and scoring twice in two games for the age group.
Whilst learning his trade, Hussein would spend a number of years in the Scottish system where he started out with Rangers Youth B, before a few years at Motherwell.
Hussein would head back to Egypt to spend time with the most successful club in Egypt - Al Ahly. Mehasseb would then spend a couple of years with the U23 and first team at Al Ahly before then heading around Europe including spells at Lithuanian side Neptunas, Cypriot side Omonia and Kosovan team FC Malisheva, who regularly compete in Europe, before joining Bala Town in 2024.
On joining The Nomads, Mehasseb commented; “I am delighted to be signing for Connahs Quay Nomads - a club with a big history in Wales and many achievements over the years.
I am really excited to be working with the Manager, who I thank a lot for his trust, alongside all of the staff and all of the players.
I hope that we can have a very successful season all together starting from our first UEFA conference league game.”
On the arrival of Mehasseb, Manager John Disney commented; “Hussein is someone that is well known within the Welsh system - a player that has scored against us each time he played against us last year.
With Hussein’s background, presence and profile he is a real technical finisher and once I met him it was clear to see how much of a good personality he is and will be infectious around the dressing room, especially with our younger players.
We are all really happy to welcome him to the club and looking forward to working with him.”
