New Signing: Shane Flynn

Connah’s Quay Nomads are pleased to announce the signing of 24-year-old left back Shane Flynn.

Irish-born Flynn started his career at St Joseph’s Boys Club before being picked up by former Premier League Champions, Leicester City where he would go on to spend six years of his early career where he would regularly feature in the Premier League 2 U23 league, as well as the U18 Premier League and FA Youth Cup for The Foxes.

Flynn would also make a number of appearances in the EFL Trophy and was named as the 2020/21 Development Squad Player of the Season at Leicester. Flynn has also represented Ireland at U18 and U21 level.

Since leaving Leicester City, Flynn has gone on to play for Waterford in Ireland and Ballymena United in Northern Ireland before a recent spell at Kettering Town in the Southern League Premier Division.

Flynn has been a part of the Nomads’ pre-season campaign featuring against Brickfield Rangers, TNS and Larne so far.

On Shane’s signing, John Disney commented; “I am delighted to have Shane commit to ourselves after having him over last season to train and have a good look at him.

Shane has a wonderful background and someone I have been aware about from Ireland for a number of years, he is rightly so extremely well-regarded in Ireland and is another player who has represented his country at youth level including the Under 21s whilst at Leicester City.

Shane has had some real bad fortune for a number of years and is someone who is dedicated to ensure he gets a good run of games and with that he will bring a great number of leadership qualities to the group with his experience over a number of leagues but also someone with a fantastic left foot and real quality in and out of possession.

Shane has been fantastic since coming over and we are really excited to bring himself in to the club.”
