Nomads Women stalwart Luke set to leave

One of Connah’s Quay Nomads Women’s longest-serving players Emily Luke has announced that she will leave the club this summer due to work commitments.

Luke was the first player to sign for the club since our reformation under current boss Jordan Parry in 2021.

Since then, Luke has made 58 appearances for the Nomads, keeping 22 clean sheets during that time.

A Genero Adran North title winner and three-time NEWFA Cup winner, Luke undoubtedly leaves a legacy at the club behind her, and she has been a role model to many in our Player Development Centre over recent years.

Luke has pursued a career as a sports therapist outside of her time at the Nomads. She will continue to work for Cymru Women’s U17 and U19 teams, while also continuing her role as physio for Airbus UK Broughton.

Luke may be leaving Connah’s Quay Nomads as a player, but she will continue to show her support from the sidelines.

“I have been here since the very beginning and it has been amazing to see how far the club has come,” said Luke.

“I have loved every minute and this team has been such a great bunch on and off the pitch.

“I wish the club all the best for the upcoming season. I will continue to cheer the team on and I definitely will not be a stranger.”

Manager Jordan Parry, who worked with Luke for the entirety of her four-year spell, also commented on her departure.

“Emily was the first player I ever signed and no one is quite like her,” said Parry.

“I have been very fortunate to get to know Emily as a person, let alone coach her. She is one of life’s best people.

“Regardless of her commitments, it has been so good to see her do so well. She has incredible opportunities with FAW and I fully understand her decision.

“Emily is one of the most loyal and committed players I have coached. She has seen the evolution of this team from the very first day and I will miss her very much.”

We thank Emily for all her efforts and dedication throughout her four-year spell at the club, and we wish her all the best for the future.
