NICKY Palmer's first-half goal was all that separate the sides as Carmarthen recover from an uncertain start to forge into the top ten after a six-game unbeaten run.

In a game dominated by a blustery wind, a move down the left ended with Paul Fowler's cross for Palmer to strike past Nomads' keeper Terry McCormick.

The visitors from Deeside almost stole a lead on 20 minutes when home keeper Neil Thomas denied Jamie Petrie in a one-on-one and then managed to force away a Mike Hayes shot from Danny Forde's cross.

Mark Pritchard went close to extending the Old Gold's lead after the break when shooting wide of the target, while stopped Palmer from completing a brace.

Sub Nathan Cotterrall also tested the stopper who also tipped a Tim Hicks header to safety.

But there was almost a sting in the tail for the hosts when Chris Herbert got past the defence only for keeper Thomas to rescue the situation.
