A seventh straight league win for leaders Rhyl ended-up as a close run affair, despite the visitors holding a three-goal lead in the first-half.

The Lilywhites took the lead on 18 minutes when Nomads' keeper Craig Vernon failed to hold Mark Connolly's free-kick and Chris Roberts converted the rebound.

Neil Roberts, who had already had a goal ruled out for offside, doubled the lead on 24 minutes, heading-in from a Connolly cross at the far post.

And the ex-Wrexham man made it three with his 16th league goal of the season with another header, this time from a Gareth Owen free-kick.

Roberts was only denied his hat-trick by an upright but Quay got a toehold before half-time when Rhyl keeper Michael Jones failed to stop Danny Forde's shot from finding the back of the net.

Roberts again hit the woodwork after the resumption and Nomads ensured a tense finish when Peter Doran's deep cross from the left sailed over keeper Jones into the far corner, although twin brother Phil appeared to impeded the visiting stopper.
