Connah's Quay notched their second successive win thanks to a second-half brace from defender Andy Alston.

But Newtown, who handed home debuts to young duo Tyrone McFadden and Richard Evans, made the brighter start and deservedly took the lead when Evans got the final touch to a Nicky Ward corner.

And the Robins paid the price for missing a string of chances before the break when sloppy defending at two corners allowed Alston to score on 55 and 66 minutes.

Despite throwing everying forward in the closing stages, the hosts failed to find an equaliser.
