It was a case of many happy returns for Bangor boss Nev Powell and several of his players as they returned to Connah's Quay for the first time since a mass exodus down the A55 to Farrar Road.

Former Nomads Chris Sargeant and Marc Limbert both scored against their old club in a comfortable 3-0 win that put Bangor back in the running for a quarter-final spot.

But, despite fielding just two of the players from Saturday's draw at Caernarfon, the weakened Nomads should have taken an early lead when Wes Kilgannon's weak penalty was easily saved by ex-Nomads' keeper Paul Smith, after Mattie Phillips had been pushed in the box.

Lee Webber hit the bar for the Citizens before Sargeant tapped-in the first goal after good work from Sion Edwards.

Adam Hitchin cleared off the line on the restart as Bangor continued to dominate and Tommy Mutton was denied when one-on-one with keeper Roberts.

Citizens' keeper Smith then made a superb save to stop a Tom Baker shot and it proved a turning point as Limbert converted Mutton's pass to double the lead. Ex-Quay skipper Limbert then set-up Edwards to rub salt in the Nomads' wounds.
