Rhyl responded to manager John Hulse's criticism of their "pathetic and schoolboy" finising at Haverfordwest by blasting six past hapless Connah's Quay.

But it was the visiting Nomads who took the lead when a weak pass from Carl Ruffer let in Chris Herbert, who rounded keeper Lee Kendall to score after 18 minutes.

The Lillies were quickly back on level terms when Dave Cameron held the ball up well to set-up Andy Moran, who fired his shot from the edge of the box, while Lee Hunt, returning from a three-match ban, chipped just wide of advancing keeper Richard Roberts.

Defender Matthew Holt was the unlikely scorer of Rhyl's second, diving to head home a Jimmy Kelly free-kick and the hosts went into the break with their tails up as Hunt quickly added another with Cameron again the provider.

Rhyl dominated the second half and a quickfire brace of Cameron headers inside the first 10 minutes ended any Nomads' hopes. Hunt added a sixth to rub salt in the visitors' wounds and leave Hulse in better spirits for the visit of Airbus on Friday.
