Connah's Quay Nomads vs Technogroup Welshpool Town FC
JD Cymru Premier
Friday 28th September 2007 | 7:30pm
Deeside Stadium, Connah's Quay | Attendance: 0
Defensive frailties at both ends left Nomads and Welshpool to share the spoils from a six-goal thriller that was high on entertainment value.
The hosts twice came from behind to snatch a point thanks to a late penalty from Chris Williams, his third league goal of the campaign.
Welshpool dominated the early exchanges and took a sixth-minute lead when Steve Rogers found the foot of an upright for Richard Harris to convert from the rebound.
Connah's Quay soon hit back when John McAllister converted at the far post with the visiting defence at sixes and sevens and took the lead just past the half hour, when Stuart Cook's 25-yard free-kick found its way through the defensive wall and into keeper Gerard McGuigan's bottom corner.
Two goals from Calvin Davies with side of the break restored the advantage for Welshpool, the first a well-placed header from a left wing free kick and the second a close range toe-poke from a Paul Dowridge long throw.
Pool seemed to hold the upper hand, with Quay keeper Paul Pritchard doing well to keep out a Dave Cunnah drive, but when McAllister was brought down in the box, Williams stepped-up to save the day and preserve Nomads' unbeaten home record.
