Penalty save is the turning point

Connah's Quay Nomads vs Haverfordwest County AFC
JD Cymru Premier
Saturday 1st March 2008 | 2:30pm
Deeside Stadium, Connah's Quay | Attendance: 0

This was a tale of two penalties as Connah's Quay were forced to settle for a point in a game they could and should have won.

Chris Herbert gave the Nomads a 32nd-minute lead from the spot after Simon Gilderdale had handled but, when Quay got their second penalty award 10 minutes from time, Herbert had been substituted.

Keeper Lee Idzi was yellow-carded after bringing down striker Stewart White, but saved superbly from the normally-reliable Chris Williams, who was returning to the Deeside ranks after an enforced three-month absence with injury.

The miss proved costly as, two minutes later, sub Jack Christopher notched his 13th goal of the league campaign through a crowded goalmouth to salvage a point for Haverfordwest, leaving the hosts frustrated and still not out of danger.
