Porthmadog FC vs Connah's Quay Nomads
JD Cymru Premier
Saturday 5th April 2008 | 2:30pm
Y Traeth, Porthmadog | Attendance: 0
Despite scoring three first-half goals, Porthmadog were still unable to fashion a home win and remain at the foot of the table.
A brace from Sam McNutt and another from Craig Jones ensured Connah's Quay went away with a share of the spoils to leave the home side staring into the relegation abyss.
Port got the perfect start when Carl Owen was first to a through ball and steered a 12-yarder past Nomads' keeper Paul Pritchard, but the lively McNutt put Nomads in front with two goals inside three minutes.
He struck a free-kick past Richard Harvey and then beat the keeper to a right-wing cross to head the second from the edge of the six-yard box.
Port levelled when Rhys Roberts applied the final touch following a long throw-in and then went in front before the break when Owen flicked-on a Richard Smart free-kick for Paul Roberts finish.
Nomads were back on level terms six minites after the break when Smart miscued a clearance to Craig Jones, who returned the ball over Harvey's head.
Port pressed hard for the remained of the half, with Owen seeing his shot turned round a post by keeper Paul Pritchard and Gareth Parry crashed a last-minute shot against the Nomads cross bar.
Paul Roberts then missed a golden opportunity by firing over the bar from 12 yards and must gain some reward from an away trip to Carmarthen and a home game with Rhyl.
