STRIKER Tommy Mutton’s sixth goal of the season was enough to separate the side and take the Nomads up to fourth place in the table.

The visitors should have secured a larger victory and the fact they didn’t was down entirely to Crows goalkeeper Gareth Wesson.

The former Plymouth Argyle and Newport County stopper made eight noteworthy save to keep the Gwent side in a game in which they never really got going.

Opposite number Paul Smith had little to do in comparison and the closest the home side came to scoring was when top goal-scorer Jody Jenkins made room for himself before curling a shot around a pots.

Mutton's winner came as early as the 10th minute when he sped onto a slide-rule pass from midfielder Craig Garside before side-footing past the advancing Wesson.

From that moment, the visitors never looked back and with a bit more composure in front of goal may well have hot a hat-full.

The Nomads looked a capable outfit which is set to push hard for honours under long-serving manager Neville Powell while Cwmbran, now without a win in six league matches, appear to be in for a long, hard winter.
