UNHAPPY times at Porthmadog following a three point deduction and Connah's Quay added to the gloom at The Traeth by taking the points.

Christian Sageant opened the scoring and also had a hand in the second from Tommy Mutton but although Port fought back through Les Davies, a straight red-carded for Carl Jones compounded the home side's misery eight minutes from time.

A blustery wind and hard dry pitch made flowing football difficult and allowed Nomads to close down the game and hit Port on the counter-attack. Despite enjoying most of the possession in the first half, it was home keeper Richard Harvey who was the busiest and following a fine diving save from Sargeant he was beaten by the same player six minutes later.

A quickly taken free kick caught the Port defence napping and Sargeant's powerful low shot beat Harvey just inside his right hand post.

Quay keeper Paul Smith denied Les Davies in a one-on-one and Carl Owen spurned a good chance, but Ryan Davies was forced to clear off his own line from a Nomads' attack.

Soon after the break the visitors extended their lead when Harvey dived full length to push away another Sergeant effort and the ball fell to Mutton who tapped in the rebound. Port were given hope by Les Davies who turned an Owen cross past Smith on 52 minutes, but the keeper scrambled away a Gareth Caughter shot as the hosts searched for an equaliser.

Phil Molyneux and Sergeant went close for the Nomads and when Geraint Mitchell cleared off his own line another shot struck the crossbar.
