NOMADS stole a march on European rivals Welshpool by snatching the points from Aberystwyth in a game that didn't really spring to life until the second half.

Phil Molyneaux had the best chances of the opening spell, denied on both occasions by Seasiders' keeper Richard Morgan, but two minutes after the break Aber were down to 10 men when Luke Sherbon was mysteriously dismissed by referee Andy Richards, apparently for nothing more challenging two opponents for the ball with a high kick.

Nomads found it difficult to make their numerical advantage count and Aberystwyth should have taken the lead. On 76 minutes, home keeper Paul Smith brought down Craig Jones just inside the box, but a weak Stuart Roberts penalty was easily saved.

Six minutes later, the boot was on the other foot as Sion James hauled back Adam Dickinson when he was in a position to shoot and was joined Sherbon in the dressing room.

Nomads' skipper Marc Limbert saw his spot kick parried by Morgan, but he followed up to score from the rebound. The InterToto Cup at least now beckons for Nev Powell's men, who still have a home date with Rhyl on the last day of the season with a Uefa Cup spot possibly at stake for the winners.
