A hat-trick from our former Halifax Town striker Jamie Rainford earned Nomads a 3-2 win at Tadcaster Albion in the first part of their annual Yorkshire tour.

The Nomads could have easily blown Tadcaster away in the opening half hour. The hosts defence was undone by a through ball which sent striker Rainford away and he fired low past the on-rushing Reid. Tigger had an effort cleared off-the-line and Jay Colbeck fired a shot wide. We were really good for the next half hour and passed the ball around quickly carving out four good wasted chances. But we led 1-0 at the break.

Soon after the restart we were level and it was a travesty of a goal.It looked ominous for Nomads as for the second time in a week a massive refereeing error had gifted the hosts an equaliser. Critchlow being well offside when he ran on towards Terry. The local league linesman was miles behind play and kept the flag down. Critchlow then passed 'forward' for the obviously offside Thompson to net. Even Tadcaster were surprised that the goal was allowed to count. Whilst we were in a bout of disarray the Brewers gained the lead with a second goal inside a minute. Danny Critchlow getting between static defenders to head home. However, we soon settled and laid siege to the home goal as heavy rain fell. Rainford ensured that we started the weekend with a win. Firstly when Ricky Evans crossed the ball into the six-yard box he stabbed home. With minutes remaining, Rainford scored the pick of his goals with superb powerful finish from 12 yards, a glorious dipping cross shot.

We were very good at times and Tadcaster manager Paul Marshall gave an interview to NonLeagueYorkshire.com saying: "The verdict was that they are a very good team. We were confused with different shapes and rotations they played. Their rotation was excellent. In the second half we played well, but I just thought we tired a bit and they were fitter than us at the end."
