Aberystwyth Town FC vs Connah's Quay Nomads
JD Cymru Premier
Friday 12th September 2014 | 7:45pm
Park Avenue, Aberystwyth | Attendance: 372
The Nomads picked up their secondp oint of the seasons following a battling draw against high-flying Aberystwyth Town at Park Avenue on Friday night.
Cledan Davies was forced to clear a header off the line from The Nomads' player-manager Mark McGregor early on, while TNS loanee Steve Evans, making his debut for The Nomads, drew a superb diving save from home keeper Mike Lewis.
The Black and Greens were handed a chance to take an eighth-minute lead when George Horan impeded Mark Jones, but Terry McCormick produced a superb save to keep out the resulting penalty from Chris Venables.
The miss proved costly as Sean Miller burst into the box to fire home for The Nomads, who went close again through Ricky Evans and Gary O'Toole.
Venables atoned for his miss with his eighth goal of the campaign, lobbing McCormick four minutes after the break, and neither side was able to break the deadlock with few chances created in the remainder of the game.
