The Nomads broke their duck on Saturday afternoon when goals from Sean Miller and Gary O' Toole clinched their first win of this Welsh Premier League season.

This was a game of huge importance for both sides with The Nomads looking to leave the relegation zone and Newtown knowing a win could see them go third in the table.  Gary O' Toole returned from suspension whilst Jason Oswell and Luke Boundford looked to continue their good form for The Robins.

The first half saw scoring opportunities for both sides, but a goal for neither, with Jamie Price of Newtown's shot going wide before Luke Boundford's header went wide of The Nomads' goal.  Miller looked to add another goal to his record when he ran onto a loose ball just outside the area, but keeper David Jones ran out to collect.

The Nomads displayed their attacking qualities, as shown by a frequent number of corners to the away side, one of which could have ended in a goal when a shot from McGregor forced Jones into a low, spreading save.

The lack of a clinical finish was characteristic for both sides in the first half as seen through Hearsay's run into the box not taken advantage of by Mitchell.  However Newtown could have taken the lead had a free kick from Jamie Price been a few inches more to right, his effort going just wide.

A long range effort from Gary Roberts forced David Jones to make a save, but a comfortable one it was, confirming a 0-0 scoreline when referee Kevin Parry blew his whistle for the interval.

The second half saw The Nomads make a sensational start through Sean Miller, who caught out the Newtown defence latching onto a free ball in their final third, making a short run onto goal and slotting the ball neatly into the net.

Hearts were in the travelling supporters mouths, when Newtown nearly equalised through Oswell, who took advantage of a ball spilling from a save by McCormick, Oswell hitting wide to put the ball out for a goal kick.

The Nomads could have easily gone 2-0 up when Dillon hit the crossbar in a Nomads attack that saw four of the away sides players charge against three of The Robins defenders.  Newtown were far from out of the game though, and placed The Nomads under pressure, and found their reward on 79 minutes when a scramble from a free kick saw the ball parried into the net amidst a cluster of red and yellow shirts.

The Nomads found the winner with just three minutes of normal game time left, when opening goal scorer Sean Miller sent a low cross into the box which O'Toole connected with to send under Keeper David Jones and send The Nomads 2-1 up - their only job in the game now was to hold on to that scoreline.

The Nomads remained resilient in the final minutes, with Ricky Evans and Sean Miller making big clearances from The Nomads' box.  After three minutes of additional time, the full time whistle went to The Nomads' delight, as they had finally found their first win of the season.

Events elsewhere in the league meant this win did not see The Nomads leave the relegation zone, but making a major bottom of the table clash between The Nomads and Bangor City, which takes place on Friday the 24th of October at Nantporth.
