Saturday afternoon saw The Nomads earn a draw on a trip to Carmarthen Town, with an equaliser from Steve Evans cancelling out The Old Gold's breakthrough via Liam Thomas.

This was an important game for both sides.  The Nomads, knowing that to get something from the game would earn them a sixth consecutive undefeated game and yet more breathing space between themselves and the relegation zone.  A similar side to the one who beat Bangor midweek started, the only change being Marcus Giglio making a start.

The game kicked off with some early pressure from the away side, with Steve Evans making a run down the wing only to be intercepted by Belle before Rowntree had a shot saved in a goalmouth scramble.  Steve Evans then had a free kick saved by Lee Idzi.

An energetic performance from Carmarthen's Lewis Harding threatened to cause The Nomads problems when he ran through a couple of red shirts but put his shot deflected wide.  The subsequent corner went out via a narrow miss from Ceri Morgan.  It was Carmarthen who looked the stronger side in the first half through their strong attacking options, one being Sacha Walters who forced Terry McCormick to push his free kick effort just over the crossbar.

Carmarthen's push for an opener continued through Cortez Belle, who had his shot cleared off the line by Marcus Giglio.  On 41 minutes however, the home side were rewarded for the fruits of the labour, with Liam Thomas receiving the ball in front of goal and making a run to finish by slotting the ball into the bottom right corner.

The score stood at Carmarthen Town 1-0 The Nomads at half time, a scoreline which The Nomads would be disappointed to go into at the break but not deflated as they had chances which meant they were very much still in the game for the second half.

Sean Miller began the second half looking for The Nomads' way back into the game with a run into the box that saw him retain possession well but shoot high above the crossbar.  The home crowd thought they had gone 2-0 up when Kyle Bassett scored, but after the ball had gone in, referee Kris Hames revised his decision upon discussion with his assistant, who called it offside.

Lee Idzi continued his good form against The Nomads' set pieces, saving Gary Roberts' effort which was heading for the top right corner of the goal.  The Nomads went agonisingly close when Steve Evans sent in a lobbing shot from the right wing that hit the inside of the post before deflecting back out.

Not defeated by this effort, Evans finally got his goal from a corner, rising high in the box to meet the ball and head it low into the goal past Idzi.  Minutes later the team was dealt a blow went Chris Rowntree was shown a straight red for a tackle.

The final four minutes of added injury time caused a tense closer to the game. Carmarthen applied pressure in the box, with McCormick forced to bounce upon the ball to deter a readied Cortez Belle.  Gary Roberts then went on a run down the wing, beating the old gold defenders yet slotting his shot wide.  This was the final piece of action in the game as the referee moments later blew the whistle for full time.

The Nomads travelled home with a valuable and well earned point which saw them go seventh in the table - the highest position to date they have reached in the table this season.  Undefeated in their last six games this was a game that fuels the motivation around the club on and off the field.  The club now look towards Friday's home fixture versus Cefn Druids.
