Boxing Day saw The Nomads defeated 4-0 at the hands of Airbus UK Broughton FC.

In one of the few games to remain played despite conditions of snow and sleet throughout North Wales, The Nomads found themselves on the back foot for large parts of the match.  Starting newly contracted Sean Miller but without O’Toole who was on the bench, The Nomads sought a result against a strong Airbus outfit.

The Nomads had the first attack of the game when Marcus Giglio ran into the area, but couldn't get his shot away before he was dispossessed.  Tom Field then had a great chance to score at close range in The Nomads' box with McCormick on hand to save well.  The opening of the game looked fairly even until Glenn Rule began the scoring for Airbus on the 13th minute, when after a great delivery into the box via Field he was able to poke the ball into the net in the subsequent battle for the ball.

After their opening goal, Airbus persisted with their attacking intentions but could not advance on their lead before half time.  Healing came close but McCormick again saved well, as he did a number of times during the game.  The Nomads nearly earned a lifeline when an Airbus backpass trickled towards the goal line but keeper Coates was there to clear any danger.

In the second half, The Nomads began to play more in the midfield, creating a chance where Miller had a free header but could not connect with the cross in the box.  Efforts to bring The Nomads back into the game were seen when O’Toole replaced Stanton.  Shortly after this however, Airbus were awarded a penalty when an Airbus attacker went down in the box.  Tom Field stepped up and slotted the ball into the right side of the net, confirming a 2-0 lead for the home side.

After this goal, Airbus enjoyed dominance in the game, going 3-0 up around 10 minutes later through Andy Jones.  Jones headed the ball into the net from a corner, in a goal that all but ended the competition in the game.  Substitutions saw Tom Bibby and Jack Chambers make appearances, and the effect was seen when Bibby came close to a consolation goal on two occasions; having the ball cleared off the line and narrowly hitting the side netting.  The final goal for Airbus came when substitute Jordan Barrow went on a run towards goal, and noticed McCormick running out to clear.  Barrow hit the ball past the 'keeper to watch it simply bobble into the back of the net.

By this time, snow was falling fast onto the ground and indeed all over the North East of Wales, with matches at TNS and Bala both called off.  As a safety precaution no injury time was played by referee Lee Evans, who blew his whistle to confirm a 4-0 win for the Wingmakers.  The Nomads don’t have long to wait for a chance to put this result behind them, as they face Airbus again in the Welsh Premier on New Years Day, at 2:30pm at the Deeside Stadium.
