Connah's Quay Nomads vs Cwmbran Town AFC
JD Cymru Premier
Sunday 3rd April 2005 | 2:30pm
Deeside Stadium, Connah's Quay | Attendance: 110
CONNAH'S Quay looked to have earned a draw until Cwmbran came up with a late winner to maintain their excellent away form.
The Crows have won nine games on the road - as many as any other team in the Welsh Premier - and Kristian James was the deciding factor as he headed in a Simon Heal cross.
Nomads got a dream start when 17-year old Stuart Cooke notched his first goal for the Deeside outfit in the 10th minute with a 20-yard drive.
Tommy Mutton could have added to the lead, but his header was save by Town keeper Gareth Wesson, who also kept out another effort from Cooke.
Paul Cochlin levelled the game three minutes into the second-half with a back post header, but Gareth Owen and Craig Hutchinson almost restored the home advantage with shots that cleared the crossbar and Wesson also made a superb stop from Owen.
Home keeper Andy Hughes was also in action to save well from Jason Welsh and Kris Thomas, but could not prevent the Crows' late winner.
