TOMMY Mutton spurned a 40th minute chance to put Connah's Quay ahead from the penalty spot and visitors Aberystwyth took the lead two minutes later and went on to win.

Keeper Lewis Solly got down to save the spot kick after Mutton had been brought down by Aneurin Thomas, but the Nomads' keeper was lucky to still be on the pitch, after bringing down the same striker on the quarter hour just outside the box.

He received a yellow card and Mutton sent the free kick sailing over the bar.

Moments after the miss, the Black & Greens won a corner and Glyndwr Hughes sent a firm header past Andy Hughes in the Quay goal.

Aber were on the back foot for much of the second half, with Solly bringing off somegood stops, but with their defence hanging on for grim death, Jonathan Coates eased the pressure four minutes from time when he converted Gavin Allen's headed pass.
