JD Cymru Premier
Saturday 16th October 2004 | 2:30pm
Bridge Meadow Stadium, Haverfordwest | Attendance: 452

BOTH goalkeepers - County's Lee Kendall and Nomads Craig Bryan - earned their money with fine displays to keep both attacks at bay for the 90 minutes.

The home side started the better and had Connah's Quay on the ropes. Tim Hicks had a chance inside 10 minutes before Kendall was called on for the first time in the match to save well from Tommy Mutton in one of only a handful of Nomads chances in the first half.

Darren Ryan had a shot blocked and Richard Adams saw a drive held by Bryan. Despite only sporadic breaks, Nomads came closest to breaking the deadlock when George Horan fired a volley from a Darren Williams pass which cannoned back off the post.

Kendall was then called upon again when he had to save from Gareth Owen after a Ben Heath free kick before Hicks tried to chip Bryan at the other end when he was clean through after beating the visitors offside trap. Bryan was alert to the danger and saved well.

Nomads showed a little more adventure in the second half and Kendall had to be sharp to stop Williams after a great three man move involving Jon Kenworthy and skipper Owen.

Owen then fired over from 25 yards and Hicks wasted a good chance for County from a Lee Walters cross.

Half chances were exchanged at either end before Rain had a gilt-edged chance at the death to steal the win.

Kenworthy crossed and the ball was fumbled by Kendall right into the path of Rain, but the ball would not come down and the keeper did well to pressure the forward who could only find the side netting.
