Newtown AFC vs Connah's Quay Nomads
JD Cymru Premier
Saturday 25th September 2004 | 2:30pm
Latham Park, Newtown | Attendance: 210
NEWTOWN took the lead against the run of play, when new striker Sam Bowen headed in from a Danny Desormeaux corner on the half-hour.
Bowen should have doubled the lead when firing over from close range, and Nomads were rewarded for their attacking endeavour when Tommy Mutton laid on a goal for Darren Williams on the stroke of half-time.
The game was settled by a penalty, when Chris Williams obstructed Danny Field and Oliver Williams stepped up to beat Craig Bryan in the Nomads' goal.
Micky Brown could have increased the advantage, but the Robins had Paul Edwards to thank when he pulled off a good save to deny an equaliser for Williams.
