Ahead of this weekend's JD Welsh Cup Final fixture with TNS, we caught up with 19-year-old midfielder, Josh Williams as he looks ahead to the showcase finale.

Just what does it mean getting to your first Welsh Cup Final?
"Getting into the Cup Final is always a special feeling, especially after last years semi final loss. It was one of our goals that we set at the start of the season to try and win the Welsh Cup and we are one game away so the feeling is great."

It's not your first Cup Final with this team though - what do you think you learnt from the League Cup Final defeat to Bala last season?
"I think the defeat in the League Cup Final last year hit very hard as we dominated the game - coming away personally from that game I've gained a lot of experience on how important Cup Finals are to everyone at the club."

I believe that you were at our 2018 Welsh Cup Final win over Aberystwyth in 2018 as part of our Academy - what can you remember about that day at Newtown?
Being at the club since under 8s has meant I've seen the club win this trophy - in 2018 against Aber watching the first team live winning this competition gives you that feeling of how much it actually meant to everyone and gave me an understanding of what the club wants to achieve."

In your time at the Club's Academy you featured in a number of big games for the side, notably winning the JD Cymru North Development League and finishing Runners Up in the National Play Off - just how important was that journey in helping you become the player you are today?
"The journey through the academy was full of ups and downs but that's football - winning leagues and competitions to losing them has really helped me as a player grow. Still now I’m learning every week in training and games to try and become better and better."

It's been an impressive run in the cup this season in which you've featured in every game so far - is there a standout moment from our route to the final for you this season?
Our Welsh Cup run this year has been great - we’ve played really well in every round but the standout moment has to be beating Bala in the semi-final as they were the team that knocked us out last year. I think that game in tough conditions showed the character we have in the dressing room to keep trying and trying to getting that goal so late on in the game."

Don't forget that you can catch Josh and the rest of The Nomads team in action this Saturday at Rodney Parade in the JD Welsh Cup Final as we take on The New Saints - tickets are available by clicking here.
