A game that began a reasonably low key theWord Cup tie between The Nomads and Prestatyn, became one of high drama at Deeside where Nomads ran out 2-1 winners after 30 minutes of added time.

Both teams played a mixed line up with first team starts for Jon Rushton, Lee Jones and Jack Cheetham, with Prestatyn also giving some young players a start. It was a high pressure game not only as it was a knock out tie but also that The Nomads play Prestatyn on Saturday, in a live S4C game.

The game kicked off slowly with neither side really going for an early goal. The first chances swung Prestatyn's way, but Jon Rushton remained untested in goal. A proper opportunity came The Nomads' way but Lee Jones shot just over the crossbar.  The first half was a quiet affair and both teams were hoping for a lot more in the second half.

The Nomads were a much more attacking team second half with shots coming in from young starlets Simon Everall and Ryan Edwards, and these attacks paid off when Shaun Tinsley sent a shot through Hill-Dunt's hands and into the bottom right corner of the box.

Prestatyn are a top side however, and would not lie down against The Nomads and won a goal back through Gareth Wilson making a rocket shot into the crossbar and bouncing into the net.

Despite both teams best efforts to stop the game going into extra time neither could find a winner within 90 minutes.  Extra time kicked off with a bang with Lee Jones being sent off in what seems to be an astonishing refereeing decision, with Jones shown a straight red for a fair tackle.

The second half came about with a substitution for The Nomads with Mark Mcgregor coming on for Jack Cheetham.  This truly was a game that involved everything when a power cut hit Deeside Stadium leaving the game at a standstill. The power eventually came back on and the Nomads Lads had helped bring a great atmosphere to The Deeside Stadium.

The Nomads were now a team possessed as they strived for an attack on the Prestatyn goalmouth with penalties looming.  Ryan Edwards stepped up to the mark in the final minutes of extra time as he went in a run and slotted the ball perfectly past the 'keeper and into the net in what was a great finish to a fantastic game that truly had it all.

The Nomads will be both exhilarated and exhausted after that goal and will now feel they can get points at Bastion Gardens on Saturday in a live S4C Sgorio game, kick off 3:45pm.
