The Nomads remain in 11th place following a 1-1 draw against Prestatyn Town at Deeside Stadium.

The match started with Prestatyn pressing high on The Nomads' defence and after just three minutes, that high pressing work from Andy Parkinson and Chris Hartland paid off as a loose clearance from Terry McCormick fell straight to Hartland's feet.  The former Afan Lido striker calmly stroked in his first goal for The Seasiders since his recent move north, netting his fourth goal against The Nomads in the past two seasons.

Prestatyn continued to push on with the momentum from their early strike and were awarded a free kick 25 yards out, only to see Sean Hessey smash it over from the resulting strike.  Hartland was denied by Michael Burns' positioning from a corner as Hartland acrobatically volleyed for goal only to see Burns on the post to block the strike.  The Nomads had few counter attacking breaks, one of which saw a race for the ball between Mike Jukes and Prestatyn 'keeper Jon Hill-Dunt, which the stopper won and cleared to safety.  Mike Hayes also went on a mazy run thorugh the Prestatyn back line, finding Luke Holden who saw his strike saved well by Hill-Dunt.

At the beginning of the move which saw Holden's strike saved, Andy Parkinson was pressing Russell Courtney for the ball and took an unfortunate fall which saw him remain on the ground in agony clutching his knee.  When the ball settled for a corner the physio's were allowed onto the pitch and as Parkinson was receiving treatment, the floodlights at Deeside Stadium lost power leaving only the lights from the main stand lighting the ground for eight minutes.  The light was restored just as Parkinson left the field on a stretcher, and the break in play seemed to give The Nomads a new impetus and they returned a much more determined side.

Shortly after the restart The Nomads put a lot of pressure on the Prestatyn goal with Lee McArdle firing just wide from distance and Michael Burns seeing a cross-shot cleared off the line before Mike Hayes was played through, turned Sean Hessey and slotted beyond Hill-Dunt to draw the scores level with 35 minutes on the clock.  Hayes went close shortly after chipping the ball over the goal before Lee McArdle drew a fantastic save out of Jon Hill-Dunt.  The promising Sean Smith broke down the left wing and was tumbled off the ball - McArdle took the resulting free kick, fizzing in a strike which Hill-Dunt saw very late and palmed it round the post to deny The Nomads taking a lead in at the half way mark.

The game resumed, but The Nomads failed to make the most of the momentum they gained going into half time, with Prestatyn getting back in to the game.  Luke Holden went close for The Nomads trying a cheeky chip from around 25 yards, only to see it float just over the Prestatyn goal.  As Prestatyn started to gain a foothold back in the game, Jack Rowlands was booked for a foul outside the box, but Ross Stephens smashed the resulting free kick high and wide.

Unfortunately, a few mintues later and the floodlights were once again out at Deeside Stadium leading to an 11 minute break in play which saw Prestatyn choose to leave the field to keep warm.  Again after the lighting resumed, The Nomads came out with a much more attacking look, dominating the final 20 minutes of the game, but failing to make the most of a number of chances as Jack Rowlands saw a towering header from a corner blocked on the line.  Shortly after, Mike Hayes was again put through, only to be denied by Hill-Dunt this time and a mis-hit strike from Mike Jukes left the crowd wondering how he had failed to hit the target.  The final chance came as Gary Roberts burst through from midfield to get on the end of a through ball, turn his man inside the box, only to be again denied by the impressive Hill-Dunt.

The result leaves The Nomads in eleventh position, seven points adrift of the Seasiders, but with two games in hand.  Aberystwyth Town did us a favour on the night as they hit Afan Lido for six leaving Lido four points below The Nomads in bottom place.  The Nomads will now look to Saturday's clash with Port Talbot Town, a ground where we drew 0-0 the last time we visited on the opening weekend of the season.
