The Welsh women's football scene will take yet another giant step forward when Connah's Quay Nomads Women travel to face Wrexham AFC Women on Sunday 26th March at The Racecourse Ground, the home of Wrexham AFC men's first team.

The announcement that this fixture will take place at The Racecourse comes after Wrexham won the Genero Adran North title in February and will therefore be lifting the title along with the Genero Adran North U19’s title.

The attendance record for a Welsh women’s football match is set to be broken with the current record standing at 5,175 when Abergavenny Women faced Cardiff City Women at the start of the season in the Genero Adran Premier. Having sold over 7,000 tickets already, the attendance when Nomads face Wrexham at The Racecourse is sure going to be a spectacle for the Welsh Football pyramid.

Form
The Nomads will head into Sunday’s fixture on the back of a late, heartbreaking defeat to next weekend’s opponents Wrexham in the reverse fixture which ultimately saw Steve Dale’s side claim the Adran North title. However, The Nomads will still be in the hunt for silverware with an upcoming NEWFA Cup semi final clash against Llanfair at the beginning of April which will see Nomads look to retain the trophy.

Wrexham will be looking for victory on home soil this upcoming Sunday but should be expecting a tough battle. This will be Wrexham’s final league game of the season and they will therefore await the winners of the Genero Adran South for the all important play-off final to see which team earns promotion into the Genero Adran Premier next season.

The Gaffer
Manager Jordan Parry shared his thoughts ahead of Sunday’s fixture: "To be a part of such a huge occasion personally is something I doubt I'll ever forget, leading the group out this weekend will be something I will look back on and have no doubt whatever the result will be a big milestone in my career managing on the famous Racecourse Ground. I am really looking forward to the game and everything that comes around it because games like this at this magnitude don’t come around as often at this level. To be a part of a record breaking attendance for welsh women’s football is something myself, staff and players are hugely proud of finding ourselves in this position.

"We haven#'t been together long in the grand-scheme of things in regards to the womens project as a whole in comparison to other north wales women’s teams. It's an absolute privilege to manage this side who have given me everything and more in the last two seasons. We can’t lose sight of how far we have come in a short space of time and to find ourselves competing for the title this year, We have certainly been overachieving but at the same time find ourselves unfortunate due to fine margins not winning the title, That’s what this team are about, Wanting to win trophies!"

"Sunday's games shows true testament to the hard work, culture and mentality that has been driven from staff and players themselves into competing over the last two seasons and this year more so for the league title. I am the lucky man with top staff around me who have the same drive as myself wanting to be a part of these games."

"I have huge amounts of respect for Wrexham and what they have done in all the years they've been together. Recently with the new ownership it’s taken the club to another level. We understand the title’s been won and the manner of how we lost the home leg is something that this group needs to remember going into the racecourse this Sunday. There is no doubt the game will be close, It always is, One things for sure, we won’t stop working and we will compete for every ball to hopefully secure an historic three points."

Match Information
Richard Lee Wright will be the man in the middle for Sunday's game at The Racecourse. Wright was last in charge of a Nomads game back in January when Nomads beat Wrexham in an enthralling NEWFA Cup encounter, sealed with a penalty shootout victory thanks to goalkeeping heroics from Meg Robinson and Polly Wild-McGregor’s winning spot kick. Wright will have Katie Hannah and John Paul Griffiths as his two assistants.

Sunday's match will be broadcast live in front of the Sgorio cameras and you can watch the game via Sgorio's digital platforms.
