Connah's Quay Nomads Women are on the lookout for exciting talent to take part in our U19’s football scholarship programme ahead of 2024.

The Scholarship entails 2-3 training sessions and/or matchdays per week, which will be managed by UEFA A License Coaches within the club. The scholarship introduces players to a full-time schedule between both football and their education, allowing players to choose any Coleg Cambria course they would like to take on. During the scholarship, players will also be given an Individual Development Plan to help them progress as footballers. Alongside this, we prioritise the development of young adults as people.

The scholarship will see players take part in high-intensity training sessions and Genero Adran Leagues competition, eventually providing a pathway all the way up to our women’s first team, who you will be able to meet, train and play with during your time on the scholarship, creating a strong relationship on and off the pitch.

The talented Emily Jones is the first name to sign up for the scholarship ahead of 2024 and she has already begun training with our women’s team and U19’s.

Jones plays in central midfield and joins the club from Buckley Town. Jones was incredibly excited when the scholarship opportunity arose and the 16-year old shared her thoughts on how she can’t wait to get started.

On her arrival, Jones commented: "I am very excited to be given the chance to be a part of this team and to have the opportunity to hopefully do my very best for them. It was definitely the infrastructure of the club and the opportunities that come along with it that attracted me to join the club. I want to improve my abilities as a footballer, I’m willing to learn, try new things and push myself to the best of my capabilities"

The scholarship programme is led by UEFA A License Coach, Nomads Women Manager and Head of our Mini Youth Phase Jordan Parry. The notable previous scholarship success is Sienna Strapp, who had a breakthrough first season with the club before being appointed our first ever Women’s U19s Captain in her second season and earlier in 2023, Strapp departed The Nomads and headed to Stoke City Women, proving how effective the scholarship can be for future careers.

Parry believes this is just the beginning of our Girls Scholarship Programme and guarantees a bright future for Emily Jones at the club.

"I am delighted to have signed Emily into our senior section of the club. Since joining our U16’s PDC team this season, She has been exceptional throughout and when warranting an opportunity to train with the U19’s / Women’s she didn’t look out of place at all. I believe we have signed one of if not the best technically gifted 16 year olds across Flintshire who has such a big future with us at Connah's Quay Nomads.

Emily has already been offered a place in next years Coleg Cambria Scholarship Programme where I have no doubt she will thrive and go up another level again being involved in a full time football programme alongside education of her choice.

The hard work has started already for Emily and she’s has adapted so well to it, She along with all girls across Flintshire can be the future of Connah's Quay Nomads Women"

More details for our Girls Football Scholarship will be coming out next week. For any current Year 11 girls who want to register early interest, please contact Jordan Parry at 07960364142 or jordan.parry@the-nomads.co.uk.
