Previous encounters: Buckley Town

Despite being less than ten miles apart, there have been few meetings between The Nomads and Buckley Town over the years, but ahead of Saturday's Welsh Cup clash we will take a look back at some of them.

2010
Back in 2010, The Nomads would see off The Bucks in an early season fixture in the 2010/11 Huws Gray Alliance that we would ultimately go on to win - it would be a fixture that The Nomads would run out 3-1 victors - Andy Alston would give The Nomads an early lead before James McIntosh equalised for Buckley. The second half saw The Nomads dominate much of the possession and the breakthrough came in the 81st minute as Rob Jones would receive the ball from Dean Thurston before sending a low shot into the bottom corner of the goal to put The Nomads ahead - the game was made safe in the 89th minute when Gary O'Toole would latch onto a through ball from Danny Forde before calmly slotting home to give The Nomads all three points.

Our last competitive visit
The last time that The Nomads visited The Globe in a competitive fixture was back in March 2012, again in the Huws Gray Alliance, which again, we would go on to win, only this time we would successfully gain promotion to the JD Cymru Premier. This fixture was key in gaining that promotion as The Nomads trailed for much of the game after Carl Lamb had opened the scoring for the home side with an impressive long rang free kick which had seemingly blown the title race wide open at the time.

The second half saw The Nomads bombard the Buckley goal in search of the all-important equaliser - a young Rhys Healey was brought on off the bench to join stalwarts Ricky Evans and Gary O'Toole up front, but it would be a goal from the Player/Manager Mark McGregor that would send the travelling Nomads into raptures. It was in the fourth minute of added time that McGregor latched onto a long ball into the box and showed all the composure of a player with his Football League experience to find a pinpoint shot low into the bottom corner with the final kick of the game to earn The Nomads a dramatic late draw at The Globe.

Last time we played a friendly at The Globe
Ahead of the 2012/13 campaign back in the JD Cymru Premier, The Nomads would face off against Buckley in a pre-season friendly in early August - whilst the game was much about fitness and trying out a number of new faces at the time, The Nomads would be pleased to have come out on top, winning 3-0 against a spirited Buckley side, that despite the pre-season nature of the fixture, seemed hardly a friendly with a number of late challenges and a few moments where tempers would fray.

Ultimately The Nomads would run out 3-0 winners thanks to goals from captain Craig Jones and new signing Simon Everall in the first half before Academy player Lee Jones would add a third late in the second half.

The match would feature a substitute appearance for a young Aron Williams who came on as a second half substitute for The Nomads along with Jon Rushton in goal.

Saturday's JD Welsh Cup fixture kicks off at The Globe at the slightly earlier than usual time of 2:00pm, so make sure you are there early to cheer the lads on in the Quarter Final.
