Nomads to face Bala in Welsh Cup Semi Final

Wednesday night saw the draw for the JD Welsh Cup Semi Finals with The Nomads being drawn against Bala Town.

The fixture will provide a repeat of last season's Semi Final which ultimately saw Bala come out 3-2 victors after a tight encounter at the Essity Stadium. Harry Franklin opened the scoring inside the first minute of the game and Nathan Peate would draw Bala level just after half time. George Newell would go on to put Bala ahead before Jack Kenny drew The Nomads back level, but it would be Chris Venables with the winning goal just minutes from full time which saw the Lakesiders progress to the final.

The fixture confirms The Nomads' sixth semi final spot in the past eight years of the competition, having gone on to make the final twice in both 2018 and 2019 and ultimately winning the Cup for the first time in our club's history in 2018 thanks to a 4-1 victory over Aberystwyth Town in the Final.

The complete draw sees Cardiff Met face The New Saints in the other tie of the round.

Neil Gibson commented;
"We were really looking forward to the Semi Final - all of the teams left in are of the highest quality so we were ready to take whatever was presented to us.

We would like to go a step further than last season and the Welsh Cup is a fantastic competition that the group are keen to try to win.”

The fixtures will be played on the weekend of Saturday 23rd March with the location and kick off times still yet to be confirmed, but once we have confirmation, we will announce the information as soon as possible.
