During Rainbow Laces Week, Nik Mesney recently spoke to Rachael Nattrass who plays for Connah's Quay Nomads' Ladies team.

24 year-old Rachael joined The Nomads when the team was founded at the beginning of the 2019/20 season and has already made a number of appearances, including several goals for the team as they remain unbeaten in domestic competition.

Rachael is one of many gay players in The Nomads Ladies team and she spoke about her experience since joining The Nomads.

"I've been at Connah's Quay for three months now - I've been welcomed into the club with open arms to be honest - the club are like one big family - there's no discrimination towards anyone, no matter your gender, sex, anything - we're just one big family - Connah's Quay have been very supportive and are a proud club to support LGBT and show equality throughout.

"Football is about ability, attitude, passion and commitment not about sexual orientation. Connah's Quay welcome players of all different sexual orientations, the players and staff treat everyone equally - we're all here to do one thing and that's just play the sport we love."


The Nomads' Ladies team will be looking to continue their unbeaten run this weekend as they face Bethel Ladies in the NEWFA Ladies League Cup on Sunday.
